Framing a lock of hair

by Not your average framer
We have a customer who has is into framing her family history and is talking about getting some "keepsake" frames made with a view of giving them to her children when they've grown up. So far the idea is that there will be a collection of compartments for various items to be added over time.
During the conversation the possibility of framing a lock of hair was mentioned. I suspect it is one of those impossible jobs, better left alone!
Any comments?

I've seen a few locks of hair kept in tins or boxes, usually bound with cotton at one end to keep them together. Wouldn't fine fishing line make an acceptable tie, which you could then sew onto a mount?
If it's a long enough lock, you could tie it in a teardrop loop.

If it's a lady's hair, and straight-ish, it might look pretty fastened with a narrow satin ribbon. Then you could stitch the ribbon into place, perhaps?

I was just thinking what I'd do if it was my own hair - its long enough so I could tie off the ends with a few strands of it. Hair's pretty strong stuff, and using it in that way would certainly be more natural.

True, Spit! But allow me the "girlie" moment - don't have that many of them...
BTW, have to ask, Steve. "Spit". TISWAS?
