Dentists keep your filthy drill away.

A couple of months ago I bit into something a bit hard, followed by a horrible cracking noise and pain, oh the pain.
I carried on eating on the other side of my mouth for the following 6 weeks or so with the occasional accidental (pun not intended) bite on my cracked tooth with some pain this pain seemed to be diminishing in intensity as the weeks went by.
I then thought what if the nerve is dying, better ring the dentist,
the lady asked 'is it an emergency? ' not really ' next appointment is 1st of April' ok no problem. That was 4 week's away, I made a conscious effort of only eating soft foods and not on the bad side for the next four weeks.
Anyway, the dentist looked and took an Xray, although there's some surface cracks(all teeth have surface cracks), the teeth are perfect, no cavities nothing. The dentist then says 'it's probably repaired it's self'. Bull Shit, I thinks.
So I go home and look it up. Apparently your teeth can repair themselves, cracks, decay, cavities the lot, you just need the right diet, which when I check is pretty much what I eat.
So I am thinking, why do they immediately get the bloody drill out first sign of a cavity.
