conservation tape
Is conservation tape used only for flat art work? can be used for some objects, I would like to know if the reversable tape would be suitable for using on a record and if so would you use it on the actual vinyl or the label part?

Re: conservation tape
If you are talking about tape intended for hinging paper artwork, the idea is to make the hinges weaker than the paper it's stuck to. So in the event of a jolt, the hinges will tear before the artwork. So using it on heavy things is not the thing to do.
There are well-tested methods for holding objects. The way with records is to grip them between two reverse-bevel mount windows (round ones obviously), back to back. Or, use a screw with a plastic bush and a plastic capping head to go though the centre hole. Check out mirror screws. Only tigthen them just enough.
The latter method will allow the record to float with all edges visible. You do have to have a quite solid backboard to screw to. Or fix a wooden block behind.
If the record is valuable, under no circumstances stick anything to it. Especially the label.

Cheers P thanks for the feedback. Any idea where to get those screws with plastic capping head? I have looked at mirror screws, my only concern with these are that they are quite domed and will touch the glass, unless you get flat ones?

Yes.... true. But the glass would need to be spaced away from the record anyway. You just need to space it a tad more.
There are apparently flat caps.

Also on same page, plastic flanges to act as a cushion between screw and record.
