Spent a week in Edinburgh, and despite a camera ban I was very kindly allowed to take a photo of this very early example of 3D framing. It is, I think a method I never expected to see used. I am fairly certain that the method is based on the pre-silicone aquaria method of putty and welded angle frame.

In this instance the light galvanized frame would appear to be soldered and the early 16oz rolled glass puttied in with an additional wood quadrant moulding as an extra internal support.

I was invited to view a broken case of similar construction, behind the scenes. It is a new addition to my collection of methods used for 3D framing.

Sadly when I was first restoring old cases many years ago, taking photos was not high on the agenda, so many methods I have seen are just memories, so I was glad to get a picture as an example.
