If you're in a good area and have local auctioneers near you, it might be worth checking out what's on offer. Not every auctioneers is the same, but our local one is a good 'un.

I've just bought nine "brand spanking new" Arqadia swept gilt frames, (nice ones too), for £55.59 including commission, etc. The sizes are:

12" x 16" (3 frames)
16" x 20" (1 frame)
20" x 24" (2 frames)
20" x 30" (2 frames)
36" x 48" (1 frame) - Stunning art deco one!

The bevelled mirrors arrive tomorrow from Solid Glass (Nice deal too!).
Guess what's going in the windows this weekend?

Our local auction usually has a few local paintings or prints too! I always leave a bid, so no one knows it me bidding, as I assume the punters might think I would would know what to bid on.

Hi NYAF,

Ever picked up any interesting objects for framing at auctions?

Hi Áine,

Sometimes, but usually the price goes to high for what I leave as a bid. A while back I was after a top hat with gloves and a walking cane with a pewter know on the top, but I didn't bid enough.

Charity shops are another favorite place to go and often nice and cheap too!

I've got a whole load of things I want to frame sometime, perhaps the most interesting is a print by F. Gordon-Crosby of the 1933 world land speed record being set by Sir Malcolm Campbell in Bluebird. To frame with this I have a mint condition diecast model of the Blue bird.

I'm still thinking about how I would like to do this!

Hadn't thought of charity shops. Good tip! :)
