Not having seen an individual one, but wouldn't the stem be an integral piece of the artwork? That is afterall how the artist displayed them.

It would be difficult to make a suggestion without seeing a front and back photo of one.

Here's one I've just done. I used one of the rubber washers used to secure it to the stem and attached it with a length of gardening wire with a small black bead on it. Simply wired it through the mountboard and MDF backing board. Other than that, it's a very simple frameup.

Very good job, Glimpse. Did you find a very deep moulding, or did you make a box from MDF ?

Thanks Val, I used a 60mm deep moulding (Arken range from Lion) and added a 10mm extension on the back using B&Q stripwood.
There's about 3mm between the poppy and the glass.
I've got another to do but the moulding they've chose in only about 45mm deep so it'll involve a bit more building-up at the back.

Framed loads of these now. Heights do vary from 62mm to 78mm ( that's the largest we have seen ) apologies if I've missed if someone has already posted this info. Used ArtGlass on the majority. The customer was over the moon when they collected this one. I suggested a plaque but they'd already printed the wording.

Here's a picture of one that I did recently. My customer wanted the certificate and booklet included, but most importantly, the head facing forwards, not upwards. So, I just cut a small bolt to length, and it went through the backing board into the spacers provided with the poppy holding it firmly in place. A dab of black acrylic paint over the bold end makes it blend in.

I didn't use the original stem as it would have had to be cut to fit in this frame, so I just bought a steel rod from B&Q, cut it to length and is attached invisibly to the backing. The end is tucked up under the lower poppy petal, so it isn't even attached to it, just looks like it is. The original stem is kept safe.

That is just shocking ! I purchased 3 for my wife and daughters and i have framed as examples in our shops. I will ensure they are secure tomorrow. Good luck on sourcing a replacement for your your customer.

I am a little surprised at the number that have been framed with all the certificates on show, as if you have to prove what it is and not frame it for what it is...............

a most poignant and beautiful piece of sculpture.
