I was wondering if anyone's ever been approached to make a frame like the one here?

If so, how have you gone about it please - this one has a removable top. Other ways of doing would be a time consuming post box type slot I guess...

I imagine it's just a normal frame with 3 sides pinned together, and last side left unpinned. It will then need some kind of fixing to hold the last edge in place when put back together?
It will also need slots in it to slide glass and backing into it at an appropriate width.
