Here's one of my favourites for oils (on canvas or not) - especially if having glass, as this one has, AR glass between the two frames.

Outer is Nielsen 'Liberty' W15512 and inner is Simons 0387/0037.

I'm no critic but I think this is a very good original, who says factory produced mouldings should not be used on them!

Good topic although I would rarely do something like that, I've tried the idea with a few people but so far no-one wants to pay for it

Having some framed examples about helps a lot, but I use this combination with and without glass, it looks like one meant-to-be moulding ... even with glass if it's AR glass.

I googled the artist and found this one at the foot of
this page
I told the customer I'd done this and asked why it was so cheap compared to others the same size. it's because there are no faces.

How did you fix the inner frame to its brother when fitted please?

They fit together almost flush, I staple them together and seal with tape.

Thank, that was my second guess after gluing.
And thanks for the post too, I might be able to sell on that. Unless it's a fairly coarse brush I quite like oils behind glass.
Best Wishes.

It's gone from the website now but it was something like "The view other jockeys don't like to see" - i.e. the rear end of a top jockey - I forget which one.

Lovely painting and the moulding suits similar in colours to LJ lucerne which is my favorite moulding especially the black and silver
Which I love for watercolours or prints and photographs in combination with 3500 and 1400 hayseed mount combo perhaps some black core for a photo as well.
I must add I don't use it very often though as most people want 150167000 black moulding or perhaps an oak
