Can anybody advise where i can locate some sort of fixing kit to hold a heavy rifle to a backing board. Ideally a system that will be able to release the rifle from time to time for cleaning .
Many thanks
Jon

Formed rods, like this http://theframersforum.com/viewtopic.ph ... 39&p=76257 - I'd have one in a 'U' shape that the barrel passes through and probably three more like mine - all painted and shaped to suit/fit.

Re: Fixing heavy rifle to strong backing board
I secured an old flintlock rifle to a backing board using leather straps supplied by a cycle shop and a couple of suitably constructed wooden cradles to hold the gun in place. The straps were intended for fixing a saddle bag to the loops at the the back of a cycle's saddle. Somehow, the leather straps seemed to quite appropriate and reasonably in keeping to look at. The gun was extremely heavy, so I had to use 6mm plywood for the backing board.

I have successfully used the Mighty Mount Gun Holder from Lion in the past https://www.lionpic.co.uk/p/8780/Mighty ... un-Holder-
There are two used on the gun in this picture:
