STRAP HINGES FOR KEENCUT LASER 1000

Post by MickD »

Hi all

Just found this site - looks like a good thing for us framers!!

Anyone who owns a LASER KEENCUT 1000 will know that very occasionally a hinge can snap. KEENCUT have always replaced these free of charge, but they no longer have any stock of these items, and will not be producing anymore. :x

I have a very good machine much in need of some new hinges. Has anyone else had this problem, and can you help?

Thanks very much.

Mick,

Now I see your problem. I guess Keencut have just run out of that spare for what is now quite an old model.

It should not be difficult to get a machine shop to make some new pieces of the flat steel. The challenge is to make them springy. A good blacksmith probably knows how to heat treat suitable steel to make it springy enough for the purpose. Check in Yellow Pages.

Problem is that just like your business, they'll probably charge their hourly rate, so the two pieces could end up costing you £30+.

Thanks for the reply Martin.

Yep, I thought as much myself. I was sure someone else would have suffered from the same problem, and already sussed out a replacement source. Suppose I should do it myself really. Something else to add to the 'to do' list except that this needs to be sorted quickly.

I'll post any news on sorting this as it comes.

Thanks again.
