My maiden post

Hi fellow framers,
I have become a framer more by accident than design. It was thrust on me when a family member died and I received a legacy of a couple of hundred pictures all of which require framing or reframing. Nice surprise as I have always been into art and have a decent collection and always been a photographer mounting my best ones over the years. It's a very precise art making a frame and a sense of colour and style is important to form a plan long before lifting a tool.
I am building up slowly an array of tools and my first purchase was a second hand Ultimat Gold chosen because it is a current model and has spares and can be upgraded. I am cleaning it with an e-cloth and making the adjustments necessary to make it a precise cutting tool again.
Much time has been spent talking to artist friends about what kind of frames are in vogue and visiting framing shops to see how they go about things.
I am focused on the quality end of the market and the plan is to use decent materials when ever I can.
My daughter is a crafts person; an excellent artist and jeweller making and repairing all manner of trendy things.
This is a very special Forum and many of the members have tremendous skill learned over a lifetime.
I have already spent many enjoyable hours searching through old posts and have learned to avoid many pitfalls however there are plenty more waiting!
My location is between Luton and Bedford.
