Has anyone forgotten to change border size for 2nd mount

I'm mainly self-taught, and a newbie (my excuse) and wondering whether anyone, when cutting a double mount has forgotten to increase the mount border for the under-mount (please say you have!). I'm ashamed to say that I've done this with BOTH my first two doubles!

I'm posting this to a) ask if I did the right thing, b) provide thought to idiots like me and b) to give experienced framers a laugh

Anyway, after I realised (and alost jumped out of the window for welcome release) I calmed down and got my brain working (not an easy task). Luckily the fall-out didn't quite occur (, so I laid the double (almost) mount face down, and cut/bevelled some mountboard, then slid it under the undermount to butt up against the top mount to give stability. I then taped almost up to the undermount bevel with PH7-70 tape and burnished by hand.

It looked great, and when I held the mount up to the light nothing came through

Then I noticed that, I know not how, that there was a mark on the board which I could not remove - aaarrrgghhhh!!!

That window beckons!

Nope, not done that, but I have done plenty of other things that have really annoyed me.
Such as: checked my hand scribble for 2 smaller moulding lengths and cut them 345mm when they should have been 365mm but my 6 was squashed so it looked like a 4. It was actually my last stick of a discontinued moulding and I didn't have enough to cut it again, so my 60mm mount is now 50mm.
I decided in my infinite wisdom to use my mountcutter to trim the border off a photograph. I set it up to trim it using the left hand blade and then went away to do something else and came back and cut right through the middle of the boy's head using the right hand blade.
There's plenty more like that that I'll probably remember when I read some of the other replies.

Plenty of times plus I printed 25 pieces the other day and forgot to print an overlap, so I recur 25 mounts. Luckily the balance of the job needs forty mounts so I will make sure I print over size ythis time.

I also forgot to cut with an off set on double mounts as well.

Don't worry about it just try and program you self with a method to do something like longs in your left hand when you underpin. Simples.

DOUBLE MOUNT
IN & OUT
Ok so it doesn't quite rhyme :Slap:

If you cut the inner mount first then you need to reduce the border size for the outer mount and not increase as you had to do. If you should forget to reduce the border size on the outer mount then just put it back in your mount-cutter and cut it again with reduced border size, job done!

Oh yes definitely and you can always do the conga as well around the workshop, though that is better if you have ore than one of you to participate.

Roy. You may rest assured that whatever daft things you do, someone will have done it before and worse.

Many is the time I have cut a border wrongly and said soddit. Then cut two more boards and done exactly the same mistake again.
