Moulding help

Hi, I have been asked to match (as close as possible at least) the moulding in the picture above. I am not sure if it is one piece or if it is made up of two, black and the gold colour frame on the outside.

Not sure how old it is but any advice on where I might get fixed up would be much appreciated.

I think this is quite old as I used to use it way back when. I can't even remember where it came from.

There is one on the Simons website, similar finish. The big snag is that it's got the black and silver
on the wrong slopes.

Aqadia might be worth a glance but not hopeful.

Thanks, thought that might be the case. I will start the trawl of suppliers tomorrow but in the meantime if anyone knows any more....

Many thanks for your quick response, much appreciated.

I have a glimmer in the back of my mind that I got this stuff with a load of discontinued
moulding from Aqadia (nee Arquati) back in the early '90s.

I think the chance of finding some are very slim to non-existent. :(

I don't even think there are any bits left in my moulding museum (chicken shed).

Prospero, very many thanks, I think I may need to go down the " why don't you change your old one for something refreshingly new" route!

Looks like a Larsen Juhl range - the name escapes me right now. If I remember I will check when I get back in the shop tomorrow.

The LJ one is like the Simons one. Silver on the inside.

Seconded! L Juhl Soho is black outside and gold or silver inside.

There could always be some pervert out there joining it the wrong way just to give it this :giggle:

The thought has just occurred that it could be one of the frames I did using this moulding
back in the '90s. :?

Show me a bit of the picture within and then I will know.

It was done in Scotland some time back if you were ever up that way? but unfortunatley I don't have a pic of the content. Thank you all for your interest and comment, not sure I am going to solve this one other than to suggest a change of frame for both pics. Ah well, tomorrow is another day and who knows.

I think you need to put this down as another case of folks thinking that moulding designs
are eternal. :giggle: There are mouldings from that era and before that are still gettable
but that's not one of them.

A lady once brought in a frame that was done in 1908 and wanted another to match. As it had
the framer's label on the back with (3 digit) phone number, she imagined I could give them a
call and see it they had any of the moulding.

Seriously. :Slap:

Just as a matter of interest.....

Skimming though and old Aqadia catalogue I noticed a moulding in the Artcore section that is very like.

Black on the inside.

All this is academic though as it appears to be disco'd. (surprise surprise..). At least it's not on the website.

The ref is 35 SLV/BLK or 690 0AC 186.

Thanks I will ask them, you never know there might be something available that is similar, thanks for the ref.
