How to cover up a messy mark on a poster
I got sellotape stuck to the white surround of a expensive poster on gloss paper. As i tried to remove it, i created a mess including removing the top layer and making a dark rubbed in patch. Any advice on how to cover it up? Would tip ex work?.

If that means of the paper, you have no other choice but to get another poster. Even an art conservator has their limits of skills.Homecountiesframing wrote:.... removing the top layer ...

Where did the cello tape come from? Was it already attached to the print? If it was your fault you have to hold your hands up and replace it at your cost. If it is really expensive claim if your insurance that's what it's there for.

It does sound terminal and hopefully can be covered up with a mount as suggested but if it's not yours you'll have to fess up and deal with the consequences.
How much is "expensive" and do you have a photo of it?

Welcome to the forum! And what's up cycling, is that like cycling up hills, I really don't like that idea at all.

This has nearly happened to me on occasion.
Sometimes prints come wrapped in plastic and either taped up or in sleeves with a sticky flap. It's all
too easy for a sticky bit to grab onto the print surface while unpacking.
Sellotape adhesive is very aggressive. I don't allow it on the premises.
If the poster is still fairly current, it may be worth tracing and contacting the publisher. Sometimes they will
replace damaged items for a token fee if you speak to them nicely.
