Pro turner underpinner

Post by jon buck »

Before i take the plunge and buy a new underpinner , perhaps somebody can give me a bit of advice.
i am currently using quite an old pro - turner which works very well , however i only have two shutes a 7 and 10 mm .
They are getting towards the end of there life and do not know where i can get replacements.
Reading a couple of the trade catalogues it suggests that the Cassese plastic cartridges will do the job.
I have tried them but all it does is chew the end of the cartridge.
Any suggestion would be gratefully recieved.

The Proturner underpinner was made to accept the Cassese plastic chutes (after all it uses a Cassese hammer) but Cassese changed the design of their plastic chutes a few years ago and hence the very early Proturners were no longer compatible unless you replaced the wedge distributor block to match the new type chute design.
The newer Proturners work very well with the new shaped chutes, it all depends on how old your machine is.
Metal chutes can be used with either version of the Proturner
Give Framers Equipment a call on 01604 790333 about availability/price and only use Cassese universal wedges if you use the metal chutes.
