Cassese saw eBay scam

Hi I'm looking for some help here, I've recently been the victim of fraud after buying a cassese double mitre saw on eBay. I paid over £2000 for it via bank transfer and it's never been delivered. It was supposed to be in Scotland. If anyone knows who this was or can help in any way I would be eternally grateful. Maybe you serviced it or ended up buying it as well. Comments about paying via PayPal are not going to be helpful though. Thanks in advance. Phil.

Have you gone through the Ebay complaints procedure?

Hi phil

I've got to say how desperately sorry I am about what has happened :(

I sincerely hope some one on here can be more help to you than me.

Peter.

I have been through the eBay complaints process and in my personal opinion it is a complete waste of time unless you use PayPal (and pay the extortionate fees) they wouldn't even give me the sellers full name. Have had to wait until the delivery date the seller posted has past( a month) and then a further 8 days for eBay to try to get hold of him, open a case only for them to close it because he hasn't replied. The seller is hunltd_0. I have reported it to the police and both my bank and the bank the money was paid into but no one has helped yet. If nothing else I hope that none of you good people on here have the misfortune of encountering this same scam. I'll upload the rest of the photos in case anyone recognises anything in the background. There is every chance he never even had the saw in the first place (stole the pics online)and wasn't ever in Dundee. Any help will be much appreciated and if it leads to me getting my money back I'll happily reward you.

That's dreadful. I'm really sorry to hear about this. It must be heartbreaking for this to happen to you> Sadly the police don't have a lot in the way of resources to do much about things like this, because there's some much of this going on.

I tried a Google image search for each of the images that you posted.

Found what looks like an exact match (after rotating your top image) here - http://www.ebay.com/cln/steve_944/wishlist/185640251014
No matches for any of your other pictures, sorry.

"Item location:Chester, Cheshire, United Kingdom"
Seller stonescience https://www.ebay.com/usr/stonescience?_ ... 7675.l2559

It is of no help to you, I'm sure, but thought I would let you know.

Good luck, hope you find some justice soon.

That is heartbreaking.
I checked John's links on Ebay. One of the images from stonescience match your image no.4 of 6

Same car partial number in the backround.

Hope Ebay will be able to help you.

Problem is I am pretty sure that stonescience really did have one to sell and really did sell it for nearly £4,000.

And the person who ran off with OP's money just found stonescience's pictures on the internet, created a listing, and then offered it at a bargain price.

Paypal's fees may feel outrageous, but their fees exist to cover the buyer against fraud.

All you can do is report the fraud. https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

It's no comfort. Sometimes you have to pay to learn.

Hi thanks for your comments, eBay have basically washed their hands of it. I chased the police again this morning but they have nothing yet. Fingers crossed they will catch them. If anyone on here has a second hand saw for sale please message me advise I still need one!!

Oh dear. What happens when you have a framing company that has a quarter of a million pounds worth of stock (in its accounts at 31.12.16). In fact, I note that they acquired the business from somebody else in 2014, and that came with a £216k worth of stock. Doubtless mostly useless moulding:
