The painting came direct from the artist rolled up in a tube.
The customer wants me to stretch as normal.

ARTIST ERROR

The artist used too small a tube and it was rolled with the paint side in vs out.

I can't believe they're still getting that framed!

Is that a newly painted work?
That sort of cracking is more symptomatic of older stuff. I would venture to say that
the artist is a bit too heavy handed with the turps his/her mixtures. Not enough oil can produce that effect. The oil
is the binder.

That's if it is an oil. Acrylic can crack like that.

The cracks will only get worse as you stretch it.

The owner needs to send it back to the artis and get a refund. If you try and stretch it it becomes your problem. Don't touch it would be my advice.
