Poorly Morso

Hi. I have a poorly Morso. Had the engineer out to it who said the pump is on its way out. My options are the following:
£600 ish to buy the part and fit it myself. Risky and a pig of a job apparently but not impossible. I have a couple of car mechanic friends/family.
£2000 ish to keep an eye out for a second hand one. Again risky as parts may go.
£3000 ish to send it to Denmark for repair. Have to have the motor done at the same time. Weeks without it and no back up.
£9000 ish for a new one.
It's at least 15 years old. 11 of those in my care.
Think it's a Morso EH.
Anyone got any advice from experience please?

I sympathise with your plight. Just a general question though - what's the advantage of a pneumatic Morso over a pneumatic double mitre saw?

if you can handle the dust £2000 would get you a Inmes single mitre saw. very happy with mine which replaced my morso.

What would the engineer charge to fit the £600 ish part :?: and how soon could he do it.

If it's the engineer who lives in your neck of the woods and regularly posts on here I have enough faith in him to undertake the repair :D

Peter.

Thanks for your replies. The engineer didn't want to fit it and I totally understand his reasons. Yes it is the same guy. Totally trust his advice. New quote for the pump price today is £1350. Yikes. Love the Morso. Don't really want to change the type and not keen on extra dust. Will keep mulling it over and see if there are any other words of wisdom.

Give Pete a call at Framers Equipment. They do repairs and it may be cheaper to get it to Northampton than Denmark.

Pete's fixed those before, he fixed the one at Triton Galleries while I was there and the pump failed.
