Good morning all, happy to have joined you.
I'm not a professional but I work from home producing good results for friends, neighbours and word of mouth acquaintances. I did an excellent, 4 day course at West Dean College in 2016. I was inspired and all set to carry on at home, however, I quickly realised that working in the sitting room & covering everything with sawdust just wasn't an option.
Four months after the course my wonderful garden cabin was built with heating, a/c & dehumidifier and 2 big, heavy benches built to my own spec. I really am very lucky. Not only that, but I live in Ashford, Kent, so I have a branch of Wessex Pictures just across town where the staff are always so helpful & friendly.
When I identify the appropriate section of the forum I need to pick all your knowledgable brains about mount cutters!

Welcome Helen.
When I first started I had to shift my underpinner to get into bed.

Welcome, Helen
I've been on the West Dean course too - three times in fact, and I've learnt a lot on each occasion. John Hill does an excellent course and West Dean is an excellent venue for it.

welcome helen, im still in the stage of framing between the garage, spare bedroom....
I will at some point get round to building a cabin like yours, sounds ideal, like you
im a hobby framer at the mo at least. keencuts are good mount cutters, but there
are others out there too.I sometimes just use a hand mount cutter and a straight edge
it does the job! more room for errors of course, but the fun!
