I thought I would share this 'modification' that I have made for my Morso in case anyone finds it useful.

If anyone needs a little extra workbench space (like me) this is very easy to construct. It slides on and off the extension arm and is clamped with screw bolts underneath.

The slot down the centre allows mouldings to be cut without removing it. It also lets me cut sheet materials with my plunge saw.

I was concerned that the arm would not be strong enough to support the extra weight and planned to put on support legs but they aren't needed as the morso is so solidly built.

This has proved to be really useful and as it is easy to keep it clear there is always somewhere to put things down

They are solidly built but I think I'd be concerned about the arm distorting around the bolt heads. Interesting idea though.

I may still put a support leg (or two) on it

Never ever had a left hand arm for the Morso I have used in the past, always built a bench to butt up to the Morso, I too would be worried about the arm distorting around the bolt heads

I built an 8ft long shelf unit that butts up to the LH side of the Morso. No extension arm.
On the right side I have shelf on the wall that fits tight behind the RH extension.

Here's the modified version with a folding leg. It's strong enough to sit on now

Great idea and execution  Many thanks for sharing it.

Glad you added the support....it would have been a mare if the bolts got distorted :head:

By the way, what are those chrome things on the bottom corners of the support?

I was hoping you'd say that....I didn't even know they made those (very handy).

You could have a removeable piece now to fil the slot for the arm, that would make the bench flat across its width.

I have got one but to be honest it doesn't need it
