Tuition Wanted (needed!)

I am based in the south of Glasgow from my home workshop. Just starting out, self taught so far but have reached a point where I am in need to some pointers. I use mostly keencut equipment, ultimat futura and excalibur, and have refurbed a foot operated morso and also have a charnwood underpinner and HGP hotpress.

I have a decent understanding of the basics but I'm having massive problems when it comes to setting up a calibrating some of the equipment, and also need some pointers in how to handle different materials.

I would be delighted to pay a fair price to anyone that can spare some of their time to help me out. Any help at this stage will be greatly appreciated!

Martin,

I would recommend Richard at Atkins Framing in Livingstone. I have done several different training days with him, very patient and able to offer lots of good advice.

If you haven't got them, get hold of the manuals and start from the beginning. Be patient, it can take soooome time to calibrate and to learn/figure out the ins and outs. For the Morso, I gave in and bought a £50 engineered steel rule to check the fences. It made my eyes water when I hit the but it now button, but it's made the job quick and accurate.

If at all possible, get the trainer to come to you and teach you on your equipment
May cost a bit, but well worth it in the long run.

Thanks all, I’ve had a good look at the courses in Livingston, some of them are exactly what I need so I’ll definitely be looking into them. Also found a few more in-depth on line Manuals so I’m having another crack at it today. Thanks for the other contacts, I’ll certainly be following them all up at some point over the next few weeks.
