gluing wood prior to staining and varnisting.

I want to glue some bits of reclaimed pine together to make some nice pine mirrors. I have got a subtancial quanity of furniture grade pine, which I intend to use, but I am worried about the PVA squeeze out sealing the surface of the pine and preventing the water based wood stain from penetrating into the wood, because of the wood taking up some of the PVA glue and therefore resisting the absorption to the stain.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this problem please. Thank you.

I don't follow, are you worried about the glue on the mitres spilling out onto the face of the wood?

That does happen. I use a bowl of warm water and a dish cloth to wipe away any that shows.
Once so diluted the PVA will not act as a barrier.

I need to glue two lengths together alond the whole length. It's not get gluing the mitres together. I am just wondering how well two previously stained wood surfaces will glue together after they have been stained. I am thinking that this might need a bit of experimenting to find out what works best.
