Its just been announced that Photokina is to close after 70 years :(

It was one of the best attended exhibitions for many years
Just looked up an article I wrote about the show only 6 years ago
There were 1074 exhibitots from51 countries.
It covered 250,000 square metres - the size of 40 football pitches!
One of the many halls had a section dedicated to framing.
ARQADIA, International Graphics, CRAFT, DANLIST, ]Gunnar & Wizard, were regular exhibitors
LION used to have a staff of 7 - it was that busy. In 2014 it was LIONs 15th time at this bi-annual event.
185,000 visitors came from 160 countries.

Its a shame that it cant continue in a smaller format, but the owners say demand for stands is down 50% on the last show.
It will certainly be missed, by all those who have been regular visitors

Crumbs! 50% down on stand bookings in one years? That is scary! I've never heard of anything like that ever! That is a very bad sign for the future! Customers in the Photographic sector are normally very much the money end of the market, I hope that not an indicator of how deep this recession is likely to be. If that is how hard the money end of the economy is going to be hit, what about the rest of the economy? That is really bad news!
