Get Me Out of Here!

Have any of you guys up there in Pomland or nearby watched "I'm a Celebrity - Get Me Out of Here"?
Pay TV has run a couple of the series recently and it has been interesting to watch people from up there who don't know each other live in a rainforest in Australia.
I like to watch what people do and how they behave when they are not in their usual environment!

It's programs like that/big brother/pop idol/endless house & garden makeover shows/talk (more like shout) shows like Trisha & Jeremy Kyle that have totally turned me off TV. If there's a Scifi series I want to see nowadays, I download it and watch it on the 'pooter. I couldn't even tell you what our TV room looks like now, it's been so long since I've been in there.

I agree with Steve, there are too many reality programs dominating our TV sets at the moment. All the ones Steve mentioned plus more.
What happened to a decent film at prime time viewing instead of watching has-been celebritys trying to earn some cash due to there failure. Why dont they go out get a job like the rest of us and welcome themselves to the real world.
Oh dear why did i get started on this topic!

I caught a bit of 'Big Brother' once and lost the will to live.
I do spend a lot of time watching paint dry and that is infinitely more compelling.

I, for one, am very glad you got it back again, Prospero!
Most of my TV consumption tends to be documentaries or movies. RTE have the "reality" stuff, too, but I don't think it's quite the overload that the guys in the UK have inflicted on them. Sometimes they have thrillers and slightly more quirky series from the US (I enjoy
Boston Legal), but it tends to be on after midnight rather than prime time, for some reason I can't fathom.

Mainstream TV seems to be a bit sad nowadays.

Most days I check the listings in the paper and there is not a damn thing I would want to watch. Who are all these 'celebrities' anyway? Never heard of most of them. And I don't really give a flying hoo-hah if they have to munch on kangaroo's goolies in the jungle.
Most of my veiwing is on satellite and mainly the Discovery channels which have some really excelllent content.
The digital channels such as ITV2, etc, show some good drama. OK, they are repeats, but that's fine as I probably missed the first run. The only thing that really annoys me intensely are the channel logos. I
know what channel I am watching. Why do they have to stick a big label in your face?

Surely it should be re-named "I'm a celebrity When I get out of here"

Or.....
"I'm a celebrity, leave me here".

Just goes to show that we all like different things to watch!
I like documentaries on many subjects, some reality shows, especially Survivor, some gardening shows, and definitely horse opera movies! Not necessarily in that order. I also like Kirstie and Phil!
I don't like Big Brother one bit, or most American legal shows, or most movies set in the last 30 years.
There is one exception to that. "Into the Wild" which I saw on the plane to US, which was excellent and I recommend that everyone sees it.
I did enjoy the "Get Me Out of Here" show.

The problem with the get me out of here thing is that they put mostly annoying people in there that you'd forgotten about or had their moment(s) of fame for being Richard Craniums.
This stuff, big brotheretc etc, is basically for Sun Readers (no offence)

This thread has just reminded me that I actually have a freeview TV card in my PC, which I haven't used since I moved the computer into the shop 6 months ago! It was only ever used for sky sports news & recording emmerdale & corrie for the wife when we went out.

Emmerdale??? I watched a few minutes of that once and didn't like it one bit. Then again, Soap operas don't even appear on my 'want to watch list'.
I must admit though that American soapies are much worse than UK's and Aussie soapies are absolutely the pits and I hate the fact that good money is spent on making them when there is so much poverty in the world! What a disgrace!

I was addicted to Prisoner Cell Block H - long time ago - of course.
If it wasn't for that programme a certain neighbouring employee would not have the lovely nickname 'Vinegar Tits'

My main perk for working at home is my satellite subscription ( have a tv in the workshop which is on one of the news channels all day but sports over the weekends ) and the service is actually quite good for 3rd world viewing.... have a choice of 50+ channels so it is fairly easy to get away form the reality stuff. At supper time it's normally National Geographic, discovery, wild life (just not crocodile hunter) or a movie which I recorded during the previous night.

Now ya talking.

I used to watch this when I worked shifts. Mainly beacause ther was bugger all else on at the time. Only 3 channels remember and no video. It
was quite addictive. I watched it right to the end, all 900 (?) 1hr eps.
I saw a box set of the complete series on E-Bay. 180 DVDs.Think the bid was about £800.
