I have at last, got a canon a620 to run with preview. I think I have read somewere that I need a usb repeter cable, is the cable that comes with it the right one or not? Still waiting for camera to arrive, hence question.

You will need the cable that comes with the camera, but by itself it will probably be too short to go between the camera and computer.

To ensure a reliable link between ceiling mounted camera and computer, use one or more (max 5) active repeater cables.
