Hello,
I am new to the forum and have had a quick look if my request has already posted but I couldn't see a recent topic relating to this.
I am looking for a framing course in Manchester, through which I can learn how to create a basic wooden frame to stretch my cotton canvas over (I paint) and also an additional frame to surround the canvas.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful. Many thanks in advance, Nathalie

As far as stretching canvases goes, stretcher bars can be bought from places like Lions Picture Framing Supplies or Bird and Davis. They are simple to put together and make square, no cutting or joining involved. The only tools required are a staple gun, a square and possibly some canvas pliers, depending on the size that you are stretching.
Cutting and joining frames is a bit more involved.
I don't know of any training in Manchester, but you could speak to Jeremy Anderson Picture Frame Maker who is outside Nottingham or Jan at Framers Equipment in Northampton, both offer training in picture framing.

You could also contact the Fine Art Trade Guild who have a directory of framing trainers.

@ Justintime
Thanks so much for your suggestions, they are really helpful!
My mum is in Nottingham so I can do a course there, I'll contact them.
I will also look into the diy frames for canvas stretching.
Thanks again!
