Fixing to glass - options sought please?

I have mounted and secured a glove and need to secure the back of the back matt to glass. Is silicone the answer (unsure what it’s made of or if it will give off fumes) unsure what to use as I want it to be secure and not slip or drop over time. Thanks and happy Friday Framers ✌🏾

I would strongly recomend that you do not use silicone at all. In most cases, the curing process releases really strong acetic acid, which is a lot stronger concentration than normal strength acetic acid and will quite quickly destroy the glove. Added to this the inside of the glass can be a place where micro condensation easily forms due to normal cyclic variations of room temperature, with a very real potential for damage to the glove. Therefore fixing anything likely to be damaged to the inside of the glass not to be recommended.

So you have mounted the glove to mount board and now want to put glass behind that and fix the board the glove is mounted on, to that????

Yes, so the glass acts as a back board. Any safe and secure fixing suggestions?

Hi George, it’s to create a see through border and what the customer wants so if it’s possible I’d like to do it.

I can only assume the glove is mounted to board the same size as, or just bigger than it and you want to float mount that to see through the frame?

Anyway, whatever the reason, something like no nails would do, otherwise just experiment with what you have on scraps.

(Edit) Posted same time as you.

I would suggest acrylic sheet for the "see through" backing of the item that is mounted to a mountboard. Acrylic can be drilled, slotted and abraded for additional adhesion to the mountboard by any mechanical fastener or a reversable adhesive.

I had arrived at the potential of acrylic and drilling. I think that is the safest option.

Thanks all for your input, shall I post a pic of it once complete? &:o)
