Maintenance of Euro underpinner?

So my 17 year old son helped me yesterday with my underpinner. It’s been leaking air since I took over the work shop a year ago. We installed a new “whatever it’s called in English” and fastened it to the bench since we couldn’t remove the old one.

Just made a few tries in soft wood moulding with it yesterday and it’s seams to work!

But I want it to work in the future as well. So how do I take care of it? All I’ve done so far regularly is removing excess glue. Does it need oil or anything?

These handles are sometimes difficult to move. Oil? Grease? What kind?

I think the most important thing is to remove the hammer block every now and again, strip it down clean it and regrease it before replacing it, which reminds me...For releasing the handles you could try a dry lubricant spray?

I used to like to take things apart … Not now when this is so important and expensive.

I can se five screws. Two at the top. Two just below. And one deeper down. Which ones do I need to remove? Can I do it while the underpinner stands as it is? Or must I turn it over or something?

Sorry for all the questions but I really can’t afford to break anything at the moment.

And what kind of grease? I have a thick really sticky one that I used to the kids pram and push chairs. It’s for some part in cars.

The bolts marked red remove the top of the V Nail block/guide. I think the yellow ones hold the block together and the blue one adjusts hammer height.

The ones marked here remove the whole assembly for cleaning and lubricating, especially the hammer chute and return spring.
