Morso F Blade enquiry?

Hi All
Hope you are all well!
Finally looking at framing as I bought some kit a few years ago, but life decided otherwise for a while as it does.
I have the foot operated Morso F, the two sets of blades are different sizes and shapes? Any advice which if any I should use? or either okay?
Now setting it up and know I need the blades sharpening, there is a second set in a box which are 10-15mm wider than the first set, Is it because they have been sharpened a lot?
Which ones should I send for sharpening?
Starting out so will see how it goes before purchasing a new set as they seem to be £300 plus.
Any tips for best place to send them for sharpening?
With Thanks.
Andy

One set was resharpened more times than the other set. There is a point when blades become "too short" for effective cutting.

Blades come in "matched pairs". When they are resharpened they are sharpened to the same length so that the cuts are the same. They should be "hollow ground" for the best cutting action.

As for when to sharpen, it's when they do not cut well. The life of sharpening is dependent not only on the type of wood; but, more importantly if they are coated with abrasive "Gesso or Compo ornament".

Great Thanks, I thought that might be why, and I wondered about hollow ground, I will request that and get the wider ones ground.
Thanks again for replying!

I think a few people mentioned Centrado as a good place to send them. You can book it through their website.
I can't stress enough how starting out with a new set will improve your learning experience, give Framers Equipment in Northampton a call for the best price.

We always use Mainline for our blade sharpening. They have a genuine Morso sharpening machine. Easy collection and delivery of blades and an excellent service.
