POSTER COCKLES

Hi Everyone

Ideas please on how to remove cockles out of posters. They have been exposed to moisture so have a few waves in them (excuse the pun).

I have used a hot press on them , under heat and pressure. It did a kind of a job but not fully. :head:

Once in a dry mount press the art has to be allowed to dry under weights for a day or more to allow the paper fibers to relax and stabilize.

I have had some success in the hotpress, putting the work between two sheets of mountboard with only normal 92 heat for 10 mins then pressure for 5 mins.

I ve done 80 degrees was nervous to go go higher and vacuum for 3.5 minutes and them under wieght on a cool flat surface over night. Lets see how they come out.

Be wary of pressing. There are waves and there are bumps. A wave will probably flatten successfully but a
bump has nowhere to go so can form a tight half-moon crease which is impossible to remove. :|

The key is to not press anything you can't replace and make the customer aware of the risks.
