Multimaster Solution for Shadow Box?

Happy new Year, Everyone.

I'm trying to complete a shadow box, and I have a minor issue that I'd like to hear feedback on.

The points that are meant to connect the box to the frame are slightly out, due to the frame having been slightly oversized, and therefore the screw hole cannot reach the frame. Now, the first hope was to simply pry the points back slightly to align the holes more, however, the points just aren't long enough to do this. Please see the picture.

The obvious alternative to me would be to replace the points with some sort of L-shaped bracket. Is this what you folk would do? If so, is there a particular bracket that would do this? Or would I just be going down the route of picking something from DIY stores?

Alternatively, what would you do, short of cutting another frame?

You could use screw rings in the same way, but if you don’t have any you may as well buy some small angle brackets.

It may be possible to simply fix those points with staples, but it may be too close to the edge of the rebate.

Thanks John. Angle brackets have to be the way to go. I'll call by Screwfix later.

There are a few solutions.
You could use canvas offsets depending on the depth of the shadow box, or normal points fired into the side of the box and then use staples to hold them in place.

I actually really like that idea of using normal points with staples. I bought some angle brackets so may end up using them, but there is the temptation to try a few staples, especially as it's only for one side of the box I'd need a solution for. Thanks Peter.

I use a lot of these....

They are akin to mirror plates but are easily bent to suit the purpose. :)

Prospero's suggestion would be my choice too, for a professional looking finish. I'd use some slips of mountboard in the gap between the frames to centre and hold the second frame in place.

Prospero and Justin,

I like this idea too, and looks to be the tidiest option. I may well get ahold of some of those ASAP.

Thanks Gents!
