Swept Frames

Post by Jo »

Where have all the swept frames (and oval frames for that matter) gone? I presume a manufacturer has closed down but all the suppliers I have checked have got virtually nothing left.
I am looking for a 12x16 or 12x15 Black Swept Frame - would anyone happen to have one tucked away in their workshop that they don't need?
Thanks for looking!

You are quite right.

Back in the '80s/'90s they were all over the place and went on everything. But tastes have changed over the years and
ornate frames in general are not really the thing anymore. Most of the swepts in the past were made in the far East and were
very cheap.
Nowadays you can get them made to order by The Frinton Gallery but they aren't cheap.

Simons were the *go to* supplier for swepts back in the day but just had a look on their site and not a one to be seen. :(

Maybe go on ebay where there's sure to be a cheap one and spray it black with some car-paint.
