Anyone recommend the best dust extractors for MDF dust extraction. Ideally with an auto shaker?

Got a Cassese 999 last year and bought a Charnwood 2hp extractor just to get going with fine dust filter. The extractor is the worse piece of equipment I've had, it constantly clogged up despite using the paddles every 15 minutes, very flimsy and still so much dust. It advertises around a 2000m3 hour flow rate, which seemed on the higher end. Some of the auto shaker ones seem lower than that.


How are people enclosing their saws, seems you'd need a massive room to enclose it off to leave 3m space at the side for lengths and room to move the lengths in.

I have a double mitre saw and a 2hp dust extractor too.

Escaping dust from such a set up is just part of the deal.

However, 90% of the nuisance dust is coming from your extractor. No matter how good the filter, some will always escape through.
So I'd say, don't think in terms of isolating your mitre saw. Instead isolate your dust extractor.

An easy way is to put it into the corner of the room and build a simple two walled partition around it.
Use 2"x1" 's timber floor to ceiling and cover with polytunnel plastic.
With a suitable door, this is a cheap as chips solution to all your dust problems. You will of course need a longer reach flexi hose.

The remaining dust which escapes from the saw is not really mobile dust and should not interfere with the rest of your workshop.
