Hi Nice people on this forum,
I am fairly new to framing and have no experience on mount cutting, I bought a Keencut Ultimat Futura recently, but I am having problems cutting to a specific size. If for example I want a border of 50mm all round, if I use the rulers on the cutter and set the stops to 50mm, I get a smaller aperture i.e 45mm? why.....
I am also perplexed with the ruler down the centre of the cutter (Pics attached) the imperial is a mile away from the metric, it seems nonsensical that they are both inline zero mm and zero inches.
I have looked for this older model online for pics and video and I cant see anything showing the rulers.
Any help would be appreciated.

That’s not the Futura, it’s two models before it, it’s just an “ultimat” and if you don’t have the manual, here it is.

The scales slide in their channels and yours need adjusting!

Basically you just move them to what they are cutting to.

If the margin guide is set to 50 and your margin width is only 45, then without moving the stop, slide the scale to 45.

Same for the start and end of cut stops, measure the distance from the edge of the board to the point the blade enters (and leaves) - slide the scale to that measurement on the stops., it will need some fine adjustment after that no doubt.

If you find the scales move too easily in their channels, pull them at least half way out and twist them a bit.

Then just RTFM from cover to cover
