Hi.
Does anyone use the Lion code 2778 hand cutter.
I am looking for something that works well with some paper wrapped mdf spacers and wondered what technique and which tools others find works best.
Thanks

Yes I have one.
It's handy, but you do get a bit of drift. It's fine if your fillet is small, but you will probably have to correct the chop on your bigger machine if you have a deep piece.

It will chop 1.5cms easily. But larger bits of wood will jam in the top blade, needing more force, and will be less accurate.
Good though.

Most of us would cut spacers and slips on the morso as it's the most accurate. I've never used MDF spacers. The most common paper wrapped spacers are obeche which is easy to cut.

I can’t imagine why anyone with a Morso would need one of those things. It only cuts one side of a mitre, has no measuring arm/stop, and you’ll never need all those different angles.

Ever tried Foam board spacers, or mountboard bonded to foam board? They can be cut on your mount cutter and use up skinny strips you’d normally toss out.

Thanks. Not used this particular spacer before. It matched a smooth frame I was using for a float mount. I have often used the mountboard plus foamcore combination and other spacers I have used are the obeche ones which were either thinner or easier to cut. Out of interest what do you all do about making sure that there is no ingress of bugs at the point where the glass touches the frame when using spacers as the "sandwich" of materials cannot be sealed as one. Thanks.

I rarely did it, not one frame in my own home is sealed from the front.

I suppose you could use a thin bead of silicone.

You could use the volara rebate tape as you would for a canvas, before fitting the glass.
