Issues with Gummed Tape After Storage

Hi everyone,

I've been using gummed paper tape to seal the backs of my frames, and I prefer it over self-adhesive tape. However, after a roll has been sitting for a while, I notice it doesn't unwind smoothly. It almost seems like the adhesive is sticking to itself, making it difficult to pull off the roll.

My workshop is fully insulated, heated, and generally kept dry, although the temperature does drop overnight.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, what causes it, and is there a good way to prevent it? For reference, I usually buy my tape from Wessex or Lion.

Thanks in advance!

It might be the batch? Some rolls I have seem to stick slightly as they rotate.

Possibly condensation from changes in humidity.

The same happens to mine if I'm not using it for a while.
I now store it in one of these zip re-sealable bags.
