I have a girl work in the shop on Saturdays, she is a great asset and progressing well in all areas...

Phone call on Saturday morning:

"You know the choppy thing you use for cutting the frames? I've just cleaned it with Cillet Bang and something strange has happened, its all gone orange..."

Oh my God, RUST

"I thought it was really dirty when it changed colour and carried on until i realised something wasnt right..."

With a sense of disbelief, i told her, dont let it spoil your day. I have managed to clean it fairly well, there is permenent surface rust to the back of the blades in some areas, and some crannys that i cant get into, wire wool and 3 in 1, then a cloth, flippin eck, how can such a small action have such major consequences.

I guess the only other disaster was another guy i had working for me letting a £300 frame go out that was half finished, the canvas actually fell out of the frame when they got it home and they complained that there was no cord on the back...

I drop myself in it almost evey day withe my big fat mouth
yesterday I was helping in the wifes butty shop and some one in the shop area asked for lots of peper I started singing "pepper pig" one of the grandaughters favorite songs, only to walk around to the counter and find the guy was a copper you dig yourself in deeper when you try to explain

I can't remember anything major- I'm sure MY boss will remind me of something when I get back to work ,
however in my previous life(before children) I worked for a very well known American travel agent and my colleague sent someone to
Australia without a visa.
The traveller had to wait in Hong Kong for 3 days whilst it got sorted. Needless to say the hotel tab etc was picked up by the company, paid by charge card of course

I once sent someone to Heathrow instead of Gatwick for a flight. Luckily there was enough time for him to get a taxi and still catch his flight.

How does theft and fraud grab you?

At one time we had another shop as well as this one - absolutely nothing to do with anything we did/do in this one. We sold it in the end and the new owner kept our old manager on, what we found out during and after that transaction ..... !!!

I see him most days and wish I'd taken the opportunty to put him on the dole when I had the chance.

I only truly hate two people in this world and he's both of the bastards!

i had just taken over a framing company in Mayfair. Had a freelance friend in to help me at the beginning.
one day we were asked by an gallery customer if we could swop over a framed Jim Dine print for another.
As i had to go out I asked him if he would do it and get it back to the gallery.
After I had returned some time later the gallery phoned asking where the Jim Dine(£33,000) was.
I turned to him and asked the same question, his response was A blank look and said he had no idea which print I was on about ~
three hours later after turning the entire workshop over, we got a call from the gallery to say they had found the print behind the substitute in the frame......never heard from the gallery again and never saw my freelance friend either
