Morso Angled Scale

My guide on my old morso is imperial and virtually unreadable so I work the length out and use a measure that clicks into the middle its works ok
I have tried cleaning up the scale but imperial is joke, to me anyway i am old enough to remember all the imperial measurements but luckily my old man was in the army so we always seemed to be somewere that was metric
I was thinking of bonding a measure on to the morso but spotted this on ebay it looks good but do they work and has anyone tried them

Looks as if it should work as it's very similar to the Morso 'engraved' scale - which is stuck-on plastic theses days.

It seems rather expensive, though. It might be worth contacting Morso to ask if they sell replacement scales - or ask Lion if they can get one.

I always measure the moulding width using a vernier gauge with a digital readout. More accurate and probably cheaper to.

^^^^^ the idea of this type of scale is that you dont need to measure the width of the moulding

Replaced my Imperial scale with Metric. Bought the self adhesive tape from Axminster Tools, had to cut down the width for it to fit the shallow rebate. They can supply left or righthand tapes, no it's not an April !st. leg-pull.
Tip, before you remove old scale make sure you make a reference mark so you know where to position your new tape, it's so easy to remove the old one without thinking!

PS. Axminster also do vernier gauges, I bought a small steel one for a few pounds, they can supply plastic ones even cheaper.

In regard to the Original Post:
I got one of these scales today, given three choices- a choice of imperial, metric (CM), or metric with some handy inches (4,6,8,10, 12, 16, 20 etc) marked on, so i chose the metric with a few handy inches. It was a good choice.

Its pretty good quality, durable laminate, pretty easy to read, and comes straightforward fitting instructions (easy fit)
Overall- a very useful scale, that isn't so thick that it lets the moulding "rock", like some of the heavy duty stick-on ones do.
Definitely recommended, no problem.

beats me. first thing i figured out to make things easier when i got my morso F was make up a scale using CM squared graph paper cut diagonally, then had it laminated, then taped it to the morso. There was no internet then, and I dont think anyone was making stick-on scales back then anyway. Since then the other scales (ahem, including the one to measure moulding width, cough) on the morso became redundant.
Sigh. Missed out on that "dragons den" moment..... but then again, no internet, no ebay, no forums, nowhere to market it. No dragons den either. I suspect, however, I wasn't the first and I wont be the last to knock up a DIY angled scale to save measuring time. er, like the one I just bought.

and a useful item to convert an imperial morso to a metric one, or vice versa. I wouldn't advocate the graph paper solution these days, when there are better scales readily available on the market like the one in the OP for under thirty quid.
