We are a start up and wondered if someone could advise the best way to look for a part time framer to help us out with general framing work - we're based in London.

Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you very much!

Wish we had enough business to need another framer!!!

This forum is a good place to start, although London is not a good place to be if you need quality tradesmen to join you, especially part time.

Here's a few things you might try:
Your post on this forum covers the angle but I have seen others on here asking for framers in London - try searching the forum history.
Ask the reps from your suppliers - they should be in the know about who's moving & shaking.
Not sure what the Evening Standard does but our city evening paper has a "stop press" section that everyone reads on the back page - costs about £35 a night but well worth it.
Unfortunately you just missed the latest edition of Art Business Today and it's only a quarterly but if you still haven't got someone in 3 or 4 weeks, worth a try.

Try outsourcing - there's dozens of framers on here who'll make them for you - but we all need profit.

Try your local Gumtree for free classified ads online.

I think there will be plenty of people looking at the moment.

I live in rural yorkshire where skilled staff are very hard to come by, or so I thought. I put one simple ad on Gumtree York and got about 20 -30 responses. Quite a few people want part-time or flexible work.

I got lots of people willing to learn, I kept the ad professional sounding yet unthreatening and friendly which I think helped. Not stuffy like "must have experience and excellent organisational skills".

I found a really valuable person with nearly 30 years experience in framing, retail, and furniture manufacture. I also got interest from someone with a Masters Degree in Conservation and a serious hobby framer.

Was pleasantly surprised. best of all it was free and job ads can be expensive in the press.

I though the gumtree job classified was 25 pounds or something in that region? (cultural section and certain others seemed to be free...) but perhaps after your advise, even if it meant paying, it might be something worth cnosidering! i did place an add in the free cultural section but nothing in the way of response. will try in the job section. Thank you so much!

It still appears to be free for a basic job listing in York. Maybe it's more for a featured ad or something. Good luck with it anyway.

I guess you might be right about London - people need higher wages perhaps. At face value I thought it would be easier to find skilled people in London but maybe not.
