Interesting Canvas Frame Design - any idea

I recently went to a client who had a range of canvases, which I can only describe as a normal box frame canvas (approx. 2" deep) with a veneered style frame going round the side of the canvas to frame it. From the front the veneer was a bout 3-4mm thick, and from the side you could see it as 2 inches deep. This was a beach style wood effect and I thought it looked very nice.

Any idea of where I can obtain and advice, or suppliers for this type of frame material ?
