Had a problem on the Valiani today, was going to ring John (Merlin) but managed to sort it - quite proud of myself.

We found that apertures (when the board was cut to size first) were not central by about 2mm on both X and Y axis.

So I undid all the bolts on the clamps and removed the air solenoids from underneath (they hold on the bars that the clamps cover) then I went to work with my drill.

I thought about putting new holes away from the old ones, but they would have had to have been very accurate, so, instead, I made the existing holes in to slots that allow fine adjustment - a few taps with a rubber hammer here and there before final tightening and .... wallah - apertures perfectly central.

Just kidding went in to settings, then 'distances' and fiddled with the head rest postions.

If we don’t hear from Merlin tomorrow, it's your entire fault Robo...........he has had a heart attack

By coincidence (true story) i found me wizard's debossing and v-grooving to be about 1.5mm on the p*ss to the right today.

I toyed with the idea of getting out the angle grinder, then realised someone who wont be named, OLIVER, or the long suffering Oz had been in the settings. Fortunately the idiot concerned is on holiday in Kent, and so won't be destroyed. This time.

But brings up a useful general tip for CMC users.
note to self, and to any other CMC users with the facility to lock out unwanted "fiddlers": use the administrator password to guard your calibration settings
