Hi, does anybody use Elavon Merchant Services for processing credit card payments, had their rep in yesterday, and the charges seem quite low.
Debit Cards 12p per transaction
Credit Cards 1.2% from sales
Terminal £25.99 per month
No Set up Fee
No Authorisation Fee
No Minimum Charges
4 years guaranteed prices
If cancelled in first year £155.00 penalty fee
I Googled them and found a lot of very bad reviews, mainly in States and Canada, I just wondered if anybody over here used them and what they thought of them.

Terminal rental looks very high although you do not say if this includes "cardholder not present" transactions.
This could be the reason for low(ish) transaction charges.
We use Bank of Scotland (but bank elsewhere).

We got ours through the FSB and charges are very reasonable. The were the best deal we could find for us, course you do have to be a member but the free banking is also another reason for joining.
We pay £15.99 per month for our terminal. It included free installation and no monthly fee for 3 months I think?

Re: Elavon merchant services
We have used them for the past few years and never had any trouble with them. Looking at the prices you quote that is better than we are getting, we pay 21p for debit cards and 1.95% for credit cards. Terminal is £20 a month. Previously we used streamline which was quite a bit more expensive. Think I will be on the phone Monday seeing if we can get a better deal.
Also may be of interest to you, I got a brochure through from XLN yesterday who we use for phone services and they are going to start a card processing service, if it's anything like their phones they might well be cheaper than most. Brochure doesn't give any prices but I think I will be enquiring about that as well.

That for all the replys, I don't think I will use them, I might try the FSB as I'm a member.

Try Payment Sense http://www.paymentsense.co.uk we pay £16.90 + vat for terminal rental and much lower charges than you quote on transactions but I think this is dependant on value of card turnover
