An exhibition of paintings and prints by Dublin based artist Gerard Cox at the Sirius Arts Centre will run from the 5th until the 29th of August 2010. Cox has worked as an artist in different media over the last 35 years, from wooden sculpture and drawing to printmaking and painting in this exhibition. His work has always been based on organic forms and this work particularly celebrates life and nature through colour. In his prints he attempts to capture the intensity of life and nature, not in a representational way but rather through the spirit of living things. While his paintings are evolved slowly, the layers built up gradually over a number of weeks to a point of frienzied, but controled activity. These works are a delight to the eye and the experience of painting is exposed here in all its glory as a joyous experience.
