Re: Pinstripe reverse bevel nount
Not sure it is "unique" as I have seen these around in various galleries whre the owners have a CMC. I guess anyone with a CMC has done these at some time but usually more than a pinstripe between the pieces of mount.

Hi Johhny, re the 'unique we think' was that we couldnt find anyone else online that makes them.

Re: Pinstripe reverse bevel nount
On a Wizard CMC it's a case of setting a v groove with a non-zero width. Probably similar on other CMCs.
Re: Pinstripe reverse bevel nount
Sorry not unique, I used to do that many years ago with a keencut, wouldn't be that hard with a cmc. Just because we don't shout about it doesn't mean its unique. However good to see an online framer offering something different.
Re: Pinstripe reverse bevel nount
inset bevel mount - If you look in some of the framing guides you will find this sort of mount - the inset can be of any width. The other way you can play this sort of cutting technique is to not have the second colour undermount but to take the dropout from the inner cut - decorate it - Marbling -Ragging - tortoise shell or whatever your creative talents can conjure up - Then drop it back into place. Add a few pin lines and you get a fantastic decorative effect. Much easier to get absolute accuracy on a cmc - but easily done on a manual cutter - just make sure you put the drop out back in the same rotation as it came out.

Re: Pinstripe reverse bevel nount
Well, there's nothing new or unique about this sort of mount, but they are a lot less common than they once were. Not only do they feature in many of my collection of older framing and mountcutting books, (mostly books from the USA), but one former Devon framer, now based in Surrey (Hi Mike), uses the same technique with great effect.
The effect works well and with so many framers now getting CMC's, I would say that this sort of mount is about due for a revival. BTW, it's a great presentation and the website looks nice too!

Open V Groove (thats what a wizard screen calls it, anyway).
nice application of the old technique.
hope you do well selling them.
clock is ticking on how long the usual suspects start copying it and putting it on their own web sites with a buy it now button.
a good variation is to do them square cut for a really retro look. or all layers in thick white board straight cut for a very "sculpted" look.
