Hi

I there a surefire way of telling when your blades are getting beyond resharpening, just wondered if there was some indicator marked onto the blades....

Any advice appreciated

Rob

Fit new or properly re-ground blades. You'll soon realise how bad the old ones were. I was guilty of putting blade changing off and what happens - they chip and it's all down to stupidity! Give your hard working Morso a treat and fit replacements. :P

Cheers

There is a braze line near the top, if you get to close the braze fails and the balde comes away from the body usually mid cut jamming your morso. I know because I have done it. In fairness it was an old set I kept for cutting big tall mouldingsm

I think the blades were about 2" when they went. I still have them :)

If you get your blades sharpened where they know what they are doing and know about Morso's then they should be able to tell you when it's time to stop using them and buy a new set.

Also be careful about where you get them sharpened, I've got a set which has been ruined by overheating and I've been told that they are now worthless. It's a real pain as the blades should have a lot of life still in them.

I bought them from a local framer who was retiring and although I could see a little discolouration, I foolishly assumed that after a couple of sharpenings, the overheated edge would have been ground back to good metal, Unfortunately I've been advised otherwise and they are junk.
