Mikey can you just remind us what the frame combination is that you use and do you put the glass between the two stacked frames to give the depth? Thanks.

hi jm - yes the inner frame is arqadia 786706200 and outer is 267499246 - glass goes on top of the inner to give space for the meds and other items . any deeper space i use econospace (lion 46 page 62).

Nice design. Having never framed medals really, I take it that the medals are overlapped and the ribbbons butted up together as that is how they would be worn?

always frame as worn - and if there are association medals such as dunkirk or national service - we place them with a space to the right. We always follow the order of precedence and use correct post-nominal letters in the plaques - we take great care to get these things correct and will never go against protocol (whatever the customer wants) so they are not always right!!!! does cause some problems sometimes.

Very good Mickey, how about the label, is it white background printed blue or blue background printed white or white on clear label stuck on blue?

label is 180 gm photo paper (white with blue print) stuck onto mountboard and bevel cut on the keencut gold.

Mikey, at long last I've reframed my great grandfathers Boer war medals,QSA and clasps, KSA and clasps, regimental badge and tunic button. Changed just about everything from the original,put the ribbon on the KSA the right way round this time, and the Kings head facing you,and changed the mountboard colour from Hussar blue to crimson as you suggested. Only problem I can see is the crimson liner over the fillets. You can see the core of the mountboard sitting under the glass.I know you use velvetine so you don't have that problem, any suggestions would be greatfully recieved.Shame about the terrible reflection,should have used AR or my particular favorite TRU-VUE conservation reflection control.So, what do you think, have I missed anything.

that looks absolutely splendid - layout and presentation are great . hang it where customers can see it ! I don't think the liner is a problem - excellent job. Photos - i do them before glass is put in !! (cheating maybe) .

The metal corners definately give a military look - like it a lot.

In the medals framed at the top of this thread what do you use for the mount? Is it mountboard covered with blue cloth or a special textured one?
