Boot polish, wax crayon, any other suggestions?

Melted wax crayon works well. And polishes to a nice shine. But it gets all over the place. Keep well away from mountboard and artwork and clean up afterwards. The cream waxes above seem like a better idea I once used black mastic...worked well but what a mess

The Amaco wax fillers are superb. Boot polish I think will be far too soft.

I also like these instead of crayons, for larger holes.

We use all of the above, depending on the circumstances, as well as Black patinating wax, and a permanent black felt pen on occasions!

I tried permanent marker on a joint and 2 years later it has rather embarrassingly faded somewhat.

dash of cake flour + dash of pva glue = dash of black acrylic paint : mix into a thickish paste . I normally apply the paste with the finger and wipe off excess with a damp paper towel ( the 'dough' sets rock hard - used this 'dough' for small kids 30yrs ago when teaching art and my wife still has a piece of 'jewellery' hanging in her cupboard ) I use the same recipe with any colour including golds and silvers that are spirit based - because it becomes a water based product and has no effect on foils and leaf etc
