We have just taken delivery of our CMC so if any framer needs a volume of mounts cut, let us know.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for that - I am keen to have a contact local to me who can do some of the specialised work that would be outside of my capabilities on a standard cutting set-up.

Maybe you could send me a PM so I have your phone number.

Many thanks......Bob

Steve,

Congratulations on taking the plunge. I'm looking to make a similar move inthe near future. What did you go for and how was the experience for you?

Regards,

Jon.

Jon. To be honest it was quite difficult. We feel there are real pros and cons of each of the two main players. The Gunnar has the advantage of fully auto head alignment and head switching so you can do both bevel and straight cuts without changing cutting heads. With the Wizard you have to manually change the head, taking a couple of seconds to do, but obviously means the task of cutting the aperture and mount out of the sheet is not fully automatic. On the other hand, the Wizard software in our opinion is much easier to use. It was a difficult call but in the end we are renting a Wizard 9000 that will cope with jumbo mount card and comes with loads of gadgets like a pen tool that we may never use but you never know!

I recommend you spend time testing both the brands product and making your own decision based upon your own priorities.

I would also recommend testing out the Valiani range.
I opted for the Valiani CMC iX in December and it has already become invaluable to our business.
I receontly added the M3 packaging software and new creasing head so now have a custom box / packaging machine as well as a mountcutter :D
Valiani's customer service is also fantastic.

In Summary, I would check out all four of the main players before making a decision.
Joe @ Simons would be able to help with any information on the Valiani Range

From experience on both our old Wizard 8000( we still have this and will be re listing at a lower price soon due to someone messing us around ) and our new Gunnar F1 Hybrid. I agree that the software is easier initially on the wizard but saying that once you get get used to the Gunnar software it is just as easy to use. What sold it to us was the fully auto head alignment and head switching. It's a dream to work with. Not sure if we will ever make pizza boxes for anyone but it can if we want to :) At the end of the day you have to go with what's right for you and your business at the time.
He who dares wins :)
