'Morning all,

Is there any way to neutralise/remove mildew from old prints etc?. Some of the ones we see have a type that just brushes off,but most have the usual black spots.

I guess that once it's taken hold it's going to be hard achieve a visual improvement, but the big question is can it be killed?. I'd read that strong UV light might kill it off,but the effect on the print would be detrimental.

Thanks,Mike

My advice would be to get a paper conservator to fix it.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies both, although it's not a serious problem for this particular customer, here in the deepest, darkest part of Wales lots of older houses have condensation issues, and we're seeing loads of work being bought in for a reframe and spruce up with this concern.

Regards,Mike
