Surface Mounting With Jetmounter

A very basic query but any hints much appreciated.

I need to surface mount a cheap print onto Daler whitecore and allow a border of colour to be visible around the perimeter of the print.

Most important question, is it viable to jetmount onto mountboard in respect of the board density?

What is the best method to position the print for mounting on the board in order that a neat and tidy job is achieved?

My thoughts were to allow approx' 1mm overlap for the print?

Many Thanks
Rob

If I understand your query correctly....

apply mount film to print.... then brayer onto board larger than desired size.... then trim board to size.

Thanks for that Chris, and that seems to be the answer, I have had the Jetmounter sat in the corner of the workshop and will refresh my memory watching the dvd....

Best Regards

TOP TIP - As mountboard density is lower then "mounting" board density (i.e. not as smooth & prone to showing "orange peel") only use minimal pressure when applying the self adhesive image to the face of the board.

There I go again with the "inverted commas" again - nothing sinister Max I promise... :Slap:

Cheers Steve,

I now recall through the mists of time you firmly "shaking me by throat" and warning me of the dangers of "orange peel" when using mountboard.

Would you recommend quarter of a turn when setting the pressure in this instance or indeed less?

Best Regards
Rob

bring the height adjuster knobs down to the "loose point" on the bare board & then check it runs straight.

The added thickness of the print & the adhesive onthe back of the print will add enough additional height to create pressure when it goes back between the rollers.
